The “First flag rising” solemn ceremony was held on the new border gunboats “Grif” and “Sarych” in Kerch. The press service of the Headquarters of the Border Service of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Crimea reported of the event.
The “Grif” and “Sarych” patrol ships are the multifunctional border gunboats designed for the Coastal Defense of the Border Service of the Federal Security Service of Russia. These vessels combine qualities of a patrol ship and tugboat.
The onboard monitoring systems allow to track any object approaching to the borders of the country and the capacity to achieve high speed and execute complicated maneuvers facilitates a rapid response to the emerging threats to the security of Russia in the border area.
The patrol ships will be on duty in the water area of the Black Sea and Sea of Azov to prevent uncontrolled crossings of the state border of the Russian Federation, ensure security of the Russian subjects of maritime economic activity and provide anti-terrorism security of the maritime navigation in the Kerch Strait.
