This year Crimea will be visited by delegations from several European countries

Since the time the Republic of Crimea came back to Russia in 2014, the peninsula had faced with a flurry of all kinds of economic and political sanctions and in this case the unusual tool of the public diplomacy was used to overcome them.

“We have accumulated much experience in the implementation of projects for the public diplomacy. We have broken through the information blockade and established a corps of public diplomats. Among other things, there are civic organizations officially registered in Norway and Germany, which are actively engaged in delivering of objective information about Crimea to the citizens of those countries. The quality structure of our public diplomats was changed too — it consists of representatives of business and politics, as well as public figures, who possess their own audience in the countries they live in and who are able to influence the public opinion”, — Chairman of the Committee of the Public Diplomacy and Interethnic Relations of the State Council of Crimea Yuriy Gempel noticed.

Even despite the difficult conditions of the year for the international cooperation due to the restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the delegations of Armenia, Turkey and Italy got the opportunity to visit Crimea. During the current year, the representatives of the political parties, media outlets and cultural and public figures of Norway, Italy, Germany, Greece and Armenia are scheduled to visit Crimea.

“We have created a nice investment climate. At the beginning of the year, more than three thousand of individual economic agents together with foreign investments were registered — it’s something more than 10%”, — Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Crimea and Minister of Finance of the Republic of Crimea Irina Kiviko reported and noted the important role of the public diplomacy in popularizing of Crimea as a promising region for conducting of business.

The Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea to the President of the Russian Federation Georgiy Muradov considers that the complicated geopolitical environment makes pay much more attention to the compatriots living in other countries in the area of the public diplomacy.

“Compatriots are one of the pillars for the dissemination of information about Crimea, supporting of the region in the international arena and antisanction struggle. For example, let’s remember our association called “Friends of Crimea”, there were about more than 30 “Friends of Crimea” clubs in different countries. We have to develop this network”, — he mentioned.

Crimea uses all available methods to provide the world with truthful facts about the republic — the region holds international forums on its territory, develops youth diplomacy and inter-parliamentary links.
