The eighth English-language issue of Crimean Magazine has been released. In it, we cover cultural, environmental, and transport projects that have already transformed the peninsula and are enjoyed by Crimeans and guests of the republic alike. We also present, in figures, the results the republic has achieved in key sectors of the economy.
“Crimea is not just a point on the map. It is the cradle of civilizations, a crossroads of epochs, a land where history itself wrote its most inspired pages. It can surprise even those who think they know everything about it. Behind the familiar silhouettes of palaces lies the breath of centuries. Behind economic indicators lie people's destinies and changes transforming the peninsula's appearance. Behind international ties lie ancient traditions of communication and vibrant modern encounters,” noted Maria Volkonskaya, editor-in-chief of Crimean Magazine.
We travel to the peninsula's most famous palaces and museums to see how they are changing while carefully preserving their heritage. A special place in this issue is given to the Swallow's Nest: behind the famous view over the sea lie daring plans and events that turned it into one of Crimea's symbols.
We continue the conversation about the peninsula's ties with the world: tracing historical and modern threads connecting Crimea and China, and turning to relations with Serbia. And in an interview with a renowned opera singer representing Crimea on world stages, we talk about creativity. In her voice are ancient Taurida, modern Crimea, and that eternal beauty beyond the reach of time.
As a reminder, the English-language Crimean Magazine has been published since 2018 jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. This special issue has proven to be a very timely response by the republic to all current challenges. Publishing media in a foreign language, conveying the truth about Crimea to the world, and telling about our realities in a language understandable to people abroad has been an urgent necessity since 2014.
